With more Indians travelling abroad, everyone seems to be in the race to grab a slice of the paratha.

On Monday, it was the turn of the Americans to woo the Indian traveller to the U.S. While about 6.5 lakh tourists from India visited the United States last year, the Visit USA campaign this year hopes to raise the number to over nine lakh tourists.

The Visit USA Committee, in association with the U.S. Commercial Service of the U.S. Consulate General, Chennai, organised a road show and travel trade seminar here to focus on various tourist destinations across the U.S. The event was not only to familiarise tourists with destinations but also about visa procedures.

The meet provided a platform for tour operators and those in the hospitality industry to chalk out joint programmes to achieve the target.

According to Manoj Gursahani, vice-president of Visit USA Committee, more Indians were interested in travelling to the U.S., and in the last year tourist travels raked in about $ 3 billion. India stood 12{+t}{+h}among the countries from where tourists travelled to the U.S. Despite the economic slowdown, tourists from India were on the rise, he added.
